Before a story is told, before a performance explodes onto the screen, there is something that determines everything: light. And it is precisely this power that we celebrate in the Best Cinematography category, whose nominees for this year’s BMVA we are proud to reveal.

They are the artists of the image, the ones who transform a song into a visual experience that lingers in your memory. A great Director of Photography doesn’t simply “shoot.” They build worlds. They sculpt faces with shadows. They paint emotion with color. Every frame is a deliberate choice born from a clear vision; every camera movement is rhythm; every contrast is intention. This year’s nominees have proven that cinematography is far more than a technical craft, it is language, identity, and above all, pure storytelling at its most mesmerizing. From intimate, suspended atmospheres to explosive bursts of light and movement, each selected work has redefined the way music can be seen, not just heard.

Because when cinematography is powerful, a video stops being a simple visual accompaniment and becomes a true cinematic masterpiece, one that moves you, shakes you, stays with you.

On June 11th, 12th, and 13th, we will celebrate the creative minds who illuminated 2026 with bold visions and unforgettable imagery. Three days of music, talent, and inspiration, culminating in the moment when one will take home the Best Cinematography award.
